Blue Roses

Blue Roses is a band originating from Bradford.
i. This first piece represents the song ‘I am Leaving’ by ‘Blue Roses’. In the form of a plaque, each aspect delicately and secretly defines the word ‘leaving’, for example: the towering ‘Sweetpea’ plant represents goodbye and departure. Swallow birds symbolise ‘returning home safely’, they tend not to fly too far away from home in order to find their way back. I created this peice using watercolours and white pigment ink. I feel the symmetry in this peice reflects the feelings of two people, and that there are two sides to every story

ii. Based around the sound of the Blue Roses melancholy folk music I have illustrated floral imagery that could appear on their next album. I hope to create a concept that is balanced within the ‘Blue Roses’ style, and secret messages I feel their music portrays, without having to succumbe to tweeness. These designs have a sadness to them, as they look as though they have been picked, and isolated from their natural wilderness

iii. The final piece represents the theme ‘Love’. This plaque- like design has been painted with watercolours and white pigment ink. I chose to create a plaque based around ‘Love’ as this is a recurring theme within ‘Blue Roses’ beautiful music. Each aspect secretly defines ‘Love’ within carefully chosen plants, such as the pink rose. Pink roses represent ‘perfect happiness’ and lavendar symbolizes ‘devotion’. Parsley is intertwined at the base of the rose trellis. This forms the foundations of the composition, therfore symbolizing the foundations of ‘Love’ itself. Thrush birds also weave amongst the lavendar stalks, as daring birds they represent the ‘risks’ we need to take when we are in ‘Love’
